Thank you to all sponsors and supporters of “Hearts a Bluhm.” The campaign would not have been a success without you! If you sponsored a heart, please pick up your heart at Brickman Group’s Chicago North facility at 3400 North Avondale between
6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. If you would like your heart delivered (additional cost depending on location), you can arrange for it by contacting Marla Doles at Brickman at 773.279.1136.
Throughout February, a traditionally dreary month in Chicago, the Magnificent Mile literally “bloomed” with the launch of a colorful display of 100, one-of-a-kind 5-foot heart sculptures on display throughout the month as part of “Hearts a Bluhm,” a city-wide cardiovascular awareness campaign from Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. Although the hearts are no longer on display, taking steps to prevent heart disease, the leading cause of death in America, continues every day of the year.
Continue to enjoy all 100 hearts “blooming” along Michigan Avenue from Wacker Drive to Walton Street in this slide show from Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
From the amount of red acrylic needed to make 100 giant hearts to some of the personal stories that inspired the designs, Northwestern Memorial Hospital takes you behind the scenes for the story of the Hearts a Bluhm project in words and pictures. Click here to view the slide show.
